Thanks for the ATA -
I'm personally of the opinion that the TWiT Network is about the best there is to offer in all around tech news and information:
http://twit.tv
Here you'll find breaking news and commentary as well as informed discussion on the events of the day and week.
The network was formed by Leo Laporte and has grown exponentially since it's inception. He has shows with weekly news (This Week in Tech -TWiT-, This Week in Law -TWiL, This Week in Computer Hardware -TWiCH, Know How, and more) as well as daily shows (Tech News Today -TNT-, Tech News Tonight); all of which feature experts in their respective fields and journalists specializing in the field providing insight and opinions into the news of today and their speculation as to tomorrow's news as well. I find it very informative as well as entertaining.
My wife refers to the network and the shows I listen to as "your geek shows..."
I have to say that I also used to be a big fan of CNET but have slacked off a bit since Tom Merritt left and Buzz Out Loud was taken off the air.
Speaking of Buzz Out Loud, if you're interested in additional points of view and opinion, look into Tom Merritt (recently having left TWiT /TNT) and Molly Wood. They're both readily found via Google and well worth a listen to, though Molly likes the occasional rant (something I feel went a bit too long when that moron Dennis Miller made it a "thing," albeit somewhat funny, 20 years ago or so) and that can be a bit boorish. Though, to her credit, most of what she goes on about are things I feel should be addressed as well.
John C. Dvorak is a pundit worth listening to as well - you'll find that he's a regular on TWiT in addition to hosting his own shows such as The No Agenda Show (with Adam Curry) and DH Unplugged (with Andrew Horowitz). He's a bit of a crank (as is Adam Curry) and curmudgeon but he's been in the biz since I was beginning toilet training - he's seen all the trends and tends to think that Silicon Valley has become Big Business with flannel shirts and a boyish face unable to grow a full beard as of yet. His attitude is refreshing if you're sick of the slavish bent of regular, just about as ignorant as you can get of the real issues, journalists you find in most outlets.
That should get your feet wet! Hope you enjoy!
